Mother Rising

A sacred day retreat for mothers

Nov 1st 2026 12-4pm

The Portal Mill Valley

Mother Rising returns to The Portal this Día de los Muertos for an afternoon built around descent and return. Motherhood asks for a thousand small deaths: the woman we were, the body we had, the life we planned. This gathering makes room for the grief, rage, and parts of ourselves we've buried just to keep going. Facilitated by Britt Fohrman, Aine Grace, Lani Yadegar, Emmet Grahn, and Coco McKenzi, we descend together on purpose, then rise, held by mothers who know both the way down and the way back. We'll share these parts with each other and connect in a brave space, held and seen in our full spectrum of being, including our joy and pleasure.

This event is for mothers of all ages and mothers to-be. No kiddos this time around.

Early bird $111 through Oct 15 · $130 after

Mother Rising

A sacred day retreat for mothers

July 19th 2026 10am - 3pm

The Portal Mill Valley

Mother Rising is a day devoted entirely to the mother, her healing, her body, her nourishment, her joy, and her community.

Little ones are not just welcome here, they are part of the weave. Fairy godmothers are on hand throughout to hold, play with, and tend to babes, so mothers can move fluidly between their own experience and their child's needs. This is what integrated holistic wellness looks like, your little one beside you, held by the village, while you are held too.

This event is a pilot for a permanent Mother Center that we will build together. A place where a mother can arrive with her baby, eat warm food, learn, heal together, be witnessed, and receive care for herself and her babe, not as a special occasion, but as an ordinary part of life. Not a clinic, café, or daycare, but a care ecosystem. Because when mothers are held, the future changes.

Mothers of children of all ages are welcome. Babies and toddlers 0–24 months are welcome on site.

Every mother who drops into this day does so because a Fairy Godmother made it possible. If you feel called to be that presence, the one who holds the baby so the mother can be held…

This is your invitation.

Workshop Descriptions

The Erotic Mother Facilitated by Marina Nabão - Losing touch with your eroticism in early motherhood isn't a problem, it's a natural response to one of life's most demanding transitions. In this workshop, we'll normalize what so many mothers feel and quietly grieve, expand our understanding of eroticism beyond sex, and explore through somatic practice the living pulse of erotic aliveness that still moves through you. Come as you are.

Marina Nabão is a somatic practitioner, erotic mysticism facilitator, and mother to Isabella. She knows this territory not only professionally, but personally.

The mothers who come to Mother Rising are the proof of concept. Every ticket purchased — and every ticket gifted — is a vote for a world that takes care of its mothers. The funds raised through Mother Rising go directly toward building the Mother Center: a permanent space where nourishment, healing, and community for mothers is not an event you attend once a year, but a place mothers can trust they can land — held by the steady rhythm of a community that opens its doors three days a week.

Every contribution goes directly into the scholarship pool and toward building something permanent. Not just a day, but a culture. One where mothers are not an afterthought but the center. One where care is infrastructure and the next generation grows up in thriving communities.

Asking for what you need is an act of courage. If a scholarship ticket would make it possible for you to be here, this is your invitation to be courageous.

We are curating a circle of wise and skilled facilitators for Mother Rising. If you feel called to bring your work into this container, we would love to hear from you.

The philosophy

Mother Rising was born from a simple and radical belief: that how we care for mothers shapes everything.

Mothers thrive when they are truly held, nourished, witnessed, and surrounded by village. And a thriving mother changes her children, her family, her community, and the world those children will inherit. The way we treat mothers is the way we treat the origin of life itself. It is one of the most consequential things we can get right.

We have largely forgotten how to do this. The village has dissolved. The rituals have faded. Mothers are expected to give everything and receive almost nothing in return. Mother Rising is a correction to that. A demonstration that another way is possible, and a seed for the culture we are trying to build.

This is not just a day. It is an act of cultural repair. One gathering, one step toward a new paradigm where the next generation will be raised by mothers who were held.
